The one that goes…Once upon a time we went to India and fell in love with chai became obsessed with chai and we wanted it every single day for the rest of our lives? Well for Sattwa Chai that story is actually true but the fairytale doesn’t end or even really begin there.

Our Background was in food science and a passion for discovering what makes certain things “click” on the palette and connects people to the world around them through taste, sight and smell. So when we ran into chai we hit the jackpot and just fell crazy in love like everybody has been doing since the first genius chai wallah began this amazing journey.  But that’s easy because, chai? It’s hard not to get enamored. What isn’t simple is how to get that authentic combination of ingenuity, centuries old experimentation with spices, and deceptively simple but not at all straightforward methods in a bottle.

So we didn’t cut corners. Instead we decided to create a revolutionary product…by not doing anything other than skillfully brewing chai. The real way. The way you actually drink chai on the street in India. (But now in a modern state of the art brew facility) We took that traditional culinary background, rigorous sourcing and added to it the knowledge that is inherent when you pick up a cup of chai and find that the best chai is simply just one thing…delicious.

That was more than two decades and a couple of handing down to the next generations, ago and Sattwa Chai is still the real deal.  We brew slowly and well, checking the quality by the measurable and also tasting and smelling until it is right, we source spices that we can touch and feel, we obsess over the tea, making sure the tannin levels fit the blend, we do everything that the chai wallahs do every day all so that when the cup hits your hand you can enjoy one of the most perfect food creations invented. We are proud to carry this tradition and take the responsibility seriously. Chai isn’t just a drink it’s part of a title we are proud to have earned.
